FLIPBOOKS
A film in a book
Flipbooks, you know, individual pictures that, when viewed in quick succession, become a very short film. I don't make them with drawings, but with photos of real animals doing or experiencing something, alone or together.
You can repeat the flipbook endlessly, or view it picture by picture.
To the left of the photos is a narrative poem, one line per page. The texts are anthropomorphic: The animals think and feel like humans. They are about boredom, falling in love, arguments, mother/child relationships, and so on.
Children aged 8 and up can read flipbooks themselves, or they can be read aloud. Flipbooks are also appealing to older children and adults, because their magic remains mysterious.
